It is finally revealed, however, the mystery woman is actually Alexis Meade, Daniel's older (m-f transgender) sister.

#Wilhelmina become a model series#
In the early episodes of the first season, Wilhelmina was also in league with a mysterious bandaged woman, who, as the series progressed, many clues linked to be Fey Sommers. She has also kept a series of files on other well known figures, filled with information she could potentially blackmail them with if the need arose. In her many years as Creative Director, she has acquired many minions in the fashion industry (including one from a rival magazine), whom she uses in order to reach her goal of becoming editor-in-chief. She is passed over, however, in favor of the less experienced Daniel Meade, son of Bradford Meade, MODEs publisher, whom Wilhelmina thinks is not qualified for the job.įor this reason, Wilhelmina launches a series of attempts to derail Daniel, but on account of Betty Suarez, Daniel's assistant, many of Wilhelmina's plans are thwarted. Twenty-five years later, after Fey's sudden death, she was next in line to become the magazine's editor-in-chief. It is heavily implied that Nico’s father is the Prince of Dubai. During the first two seasons, she held the position of Creative Director of MODE magazine, having been with the magazine since at least 1981, when she was "Wanda Slater.” Wilhelmina has a daughter called Nico Slater, who’s father sired from a one-night stand with Wilhelmina. Wilhelmina is a conceited, self-absorbed diva and former supermodel who lives for two things: MODE and Botox. Wilhelmina then became manipulative, vain and conceited with her new found fame. Wanda then changed her name to Wilhelmina and tried to erase all evidence of Wanda existing. When Fey became pregnant after a tryst at Studio 54, Wanda promised to keep the pregnancy a secret in exchange for Fey to pay Wanda lots of money to pay for expensive cosmetic surgery and Fey making her famous. During this time, her name was Wanda, not Wilhelmina. Wilhelmina was the Assistant of Fey Sommers, and Fey apparently had quite a low opinion of Wilhelmina. It is very likely Wilhelmina was a lot like Betty when she was Betty’s age. Wilhelmina attended boarding schools throughout her youth.
